Avenue 12 and Highway 41 Widening
Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, & Construction Staking Services
- Location: Fresno, CA
Scope of Work
The Avenue 12 and Highway 41 Widening project involved the design and construction of roadway improvements along approximately 1.5 miles of Avenue 12, from SR-41 to Road 40, in Madera County, California. The project was driven by the infrastructure needs associated with the Riverstone Master Plan Development and was designed to improve capacity, safety, and connectivity along this key arterial corridor. As a major improvement on an active roadway, the effort required careful balancing of long-term corridor performance and current traffic demand, coordinating design, agency review, and construction so the corridor could continue serving the traveling public throughout the work.
Precision Civil Engineering, Inc. (PCE) provided civil engineering design and project management services for the corridor improvements, guiding the project from initial analysis and design through construction. PCE’s scope included pavement rehabilitation, pavement overlay, street widening, culvert crossings, traffic signal design, traffic control plans, and signage and striping plans, each developed to meet current design standards while integrating cleanly with the existing roadway network. To establish a sound engineering foundation, PCE analyzed the Traffic Index (TI) based on field traffic counts and performed site investigations to evaluate existing pavement and soil conditions, ensuring the design responded accurately to real-world demand and subsurface conditions.
During construction, PCE provided construction staking and construction oversight, verifying that the improvements were built in accordance with the approved plans and specifications and supporting successful, on-schedule project delivery. This end-to-end involvement, from traffic analysis and design through field construction, reflects the comprehensive, accountable delivery approach PCE brings to every roadway and transportation assignment.
