Ashlan Avenue Street Widening at Hayes Avenue
Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, & Construction Staking Services
- Location: Fresno, CA
Scope of Work
The Ashlan Avenue Street Widening at Hayes Avenue project involved roadway improvements along approximately half a mile of West Ashlan Avenue, from North Bryan Avenue to North Hayes Avenue, in northwest Fresno, California. The project was associated with the Westerra residential subdivision developed by Wathen Castanos Homes and was designed to support the increased traffic demand generated by the new subdivision while bringing the arterial corridor up to current design standards. The work required careful balancing of active traffic flow, adjacent development, and long-term infrastructure performance, coordinating design, utilities, and construction so the corridor could continue serving the traveling public throughout the improvements.
Precision Civil Engineering, Inc. (PCE) was involved in all aspects of civil engineering for the roadway improvements, guiding the corridor from initial investigation through design and into construction. PCE performed preliminary site investigations to evaluate existing soil and pavement conditions, then provided a comprehensive set of design services, including center travel lane and median design, temporary interim pavement design with limited overlay, underground utility design, and signage and striping plans. Our team coordinated dry utility installations with PG&E and, throughout the construction phase, provided construction staking and construction oversight, verifying that the improvements were built in full accordance with the approved plans and specifications. This end-to-end involvement reflects the comprehensive, accountable delivery approach PCE brings to every roadway and transportation assignment.
