Fresno Chaffee Zoo
Planning and Land Surveying Services
- Location: Fresno, CA
Scope of Work
Precision Civil Engineering, Inc. (PCE) is currently under contract with Fresno Chaffee Zoo to provide ongoing professional planning consultant services, supporting the Zoo through active land use entitlement applications. That work includes coordinating directly with the City of Fresno on a Conditional Use Permit application for the Zoo’s parking lot and parking structure expansion, navigating the entitlement process, preparing application materials, and keeping the project moving through City review. This hands-on entitlement experience, working on behalf of the client within a municipal planning and permitting framework, gives PCE a current and practical understanding of the regulatory environment that governs public and institutional project approvals. In addition to planning, PCE’s relationship with the Zoo most recently included a detailed topographic survey of the entire campus in support of the Zoo’s master plan update. Using PCE’s Trimble X9 3D laser scanner, a point-cloud-based system that captures thousands of data points per square foot, our team performed 200 scans, generating approximately 10.5 million points each and totaling roughly one billion points across the site. That level of precision provides accurate base data supporting BIM modeling, exhibit planning, and design coordination at scale, and it demonstrates the advanced survey technology PCE brings to complex facility and site projects. Combined, these planning and survey services reflect the comprehensive, agency-savvy support PCE delivers on high-profile public and institutional assignments.
