Don Pedro Visitor Center
Public Facilities, Parks, & Site Improvements
- Location: County of Tuolumne
Scope of Work
Don Pedro Reservoir on the Tuolumne River is a major regional facility that provides water storage, power generation, flood control, and recreation. Originally built to support Central Valley irrigation, the reservoir has grown into an important multi-benefit resource serving agricultural, municipal, and recreational interests. The Visitor Center Expansion included reconfiguration of the existing facility and development of a new, approximately 18,000-square-foot visitor center featuring office space, a public lobby, event center, wrap-around service desk, expanded parking, and an outdoor gathering lawn, all designed to enhance the visitor experience, improve site circulation, and provide flexible space for public programs and educational opportunities. PCE, in collaboration with Unum, provided civil engineering services for the site development improvements. PCE’s scope included site surveying, grading design, utility plans, and conceptual landscape and irrigation plans for the parking lot expansion, coordinating closely with the design team to integrate civil improvements with the architectural layout, parking configuration, outdoor gathering areas, and utility infrastructure. PCE also provided construction administration support for permitting and bidding, including agency coordination, plan clarification, and technical support during construction documentation. Through these efforts, PCE helped deliver a functional, well-coordinated visitor center expansion supporting the long-term public use and operational needs of this important regional facility.
