Sheridan Park Renovation Earns PCE the 2026 ASCE Outstanding Small Project of the Year Award!

We’re excited to announce that Precision Civil Engineering (PCE) has received the 2026 Outstanding Small Project of the Year Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Fresno Branch for the Sheridan Park Renovation and Welcome to Orange Cove Signs project!

This recognition celebrates the collaborative efforts of PCE, the City of Orange Cove, and the local community in transforming Sheridan Park into a welcoming, accessible space for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Bringing New Life to Sheridan Park

After years of needing improvements, Sheridan Park has undergone an exciting transformation shaped by the needs and input of Orange Cove residents.

The renovation introduced ADA-accessible playground equipment, inclusive swings, sensory play features, improved pathways, upgraded restrooms, enhanced lighting, and drought-resistant landscaping with SMART irrigation. A new mural on the park stage also celebrates the rich history of Orange Cove.

Beyond the park itself, the project included improvements to the City’s two welcome signs along Park Boulevard. Standing 16 feet tall, the refreshed signs now feature updated landscaping, lighting, fresh paint, and an electronic message board for City announcements, proudly welcoming visitors in both English and Spanish.

A Community Investment Made Possible Through Partnership

Working closely with City of Orange Cove leadership, PCE helped secure a $2.525 million Caltrans Clean California Local Grant, which funded 100% of the project costs.

The project was completed in two phases, beginning with the new playground in 2024 and continuing with park amenities, landscaping, and gateway sign improvements in 2025.

These improvements represent more than just a park renovation. They reflect the City’s commitment to creating welcoming public spaces that bring people together and strengthen community pride.

Celebrating a Shared Achievement

As PCE President and CEO Ed Dunkel, Jr. shared:

“This project started with residents telling us what Sheridan Park should be. Our job was to listen carefully and then make it buildable, fundable, and durable. The award belongs to Orange Cove as much as it does to our team.”

We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful to the City of Orange Cove, Caltrans District 6, and everyone involved in bringing this project to life.

Congratulations to the entire project team on this well-deserved recognition! We’re honored to have played a role in creating a lasting community space that Orange Cove families can enjoy for years to come.
